Hammer & Sickle Walking Tour in Budapest Hungary We are taking you back to the way it was, comrade! Written and raved about in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal and other major newspapers around the world, this tour takes you on a journey back to what life was like during our 50 years of Communism. We summarize how it all started, how Big Brother told us what to do and what not to do. We'll teach you about how life was behind the Iron Curtain. Learn how children were brought up, how families lived, how we could travel, where we could travel, how long it took to get a passport and many other interesting experiences from black markets to banana lines.
Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final. Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center. We'll visit the famous outdoor Statue Park (where we put all the communist statues after our change in 1990) for a guided tour showing the symbolism of the statues from Lenin, Marx and Engels, Friendships and "liberations." We cover the ideas behind them,where they were placed in the city and for what reasons. Also at the park we will visit some exhibitions of Communism related themes that are ever-changing along with a real Trabant car that was originally designed to be a covered motorcycle and became a trademark as the "Hungarian family car!" Also included on the tour is a private exhibition room where we will introduce you to the real features of a Hungarian home from relics to typical furniture and furnishings. Furthermore we have an extensive collection of many Communist related relics, such as red and blue passports, party members' registration books, pins, medals, currency and huge placards to aid in your understanding of the propaganda we once lived with!
