Recommended by all the major guide books, this small group walking tour begins with a short ride on the Millennium metro out to the Heroes' Sq and City Park. There you'll learn about Hungarian history and culture through the line of kings displayed in chronicle order.

After a walk through the park , you'll visit the Vajdahunyad Castle (outside) complex built for the world EXPO in 1896, displaying typical Hungarian architecture. Next is a stop off at Szechenyi bath house (peek inside when open) to learn about the amazing bath culture in this country.

Next, you'll take the Millennium metro back towards the city center and stop off at the Opera house (outside) and Andrassy Blvd.

Description

Itinerary

The tour begins at the Opera House and then a short ride on the Millennium metro out to the Heroes' Square and City Park. Here you will learn about Hungarian history and culture through the line of kings displayed in chronicle order. You will view the Vajdahunyad Castle complex that was built for the world EXPO in 1896.

The next stop will be at the Szechenyi bath house to learn about the amazing bath culture this country has to offer. Then, the tour will take the Millennium metro back towards the city center and stop at the end of Adrassy Blvd., where you will learn the significance that the street brought to culture and nobility.

The tour will continue on to see the big areas of Deak Square and Elizabeth Square, then to peak inside the St. Stephens's Basilica. Here you will have the opportunity to take a break in a cafe for a taste of Hungary's famous pastry call "retes". Two pastries and a beverages are included in your tour. After refreshments, you will head towards the center shopping Vaci walking street and Vorsomarthy Square, then down to the riverside's famous Danube Promenade. Here you will have a great view of Gellert Hill and the Citadel, Buda Hills and the Buda Castle District.

You will also see the Vigado, which is the former municipal hall that includes many historical stories. You will have the opportunity to take photos here with the little princess before crossing the famous Chain Bridge.

For the final part of the tour, you will climb the steps up into the Buda Castle District to the Royal Palace (outside) and then walk through the old cobble stone streets and alleys to the finishing point in front of the Matthias church and Fisherman's Bastion. At the conclusion of the tour the guide will help with ideas, directions and more!

Change policy

If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date.
